brooch

Lectures

The lectures often concentrate on the more ignored aspects of a pre-historical society. The old original Bronzes tell fascinating and even funny stories of bad repairing jobs, bored people scratching doodles into a Bronze brooch and little tricks that made life easier a thousand years or more back.

Also we learn about how the Bronze brooches, needles and more were incorporated in the cloth and the fashion of prehistoric Scandinavia.

Take for an example the to modern man odd fact, that a Viking age lady wearing earrings would have her peers place her in same category as unabashed women wearing pants. That a Viking lady wore pants and or earrings was not strictly outlawed in the Viking age society – but heavily frowned upon.

So not surprisingly no Scandinavian Viking age types of earrings are known. What we do have in Scandinavia are contemporary Slavic, Baltic and Russian earrings traded or stolen for their silver value.
